guess what.
i accidentally closed blogger.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now i have t retype EVERY SINGLE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sigh. i wanted t go t sleep early. i have t be up by 7am tomorrow.
anyway. let me blog quickly and get over with it.
woke up at 9am this morning, then opened straits times recruit and used a coloured marker t box those jobs applicable t me. yep, you read right. TANya decided t get off her lazy bum and be more active in looking for a job rather than waiting around for lobang. anyway. applicable t me, meaning those with the key words, "part time" and "student". and i chose those promoting or event crew jobs (not interested in f&b). after thirteen calls, i had only 5 or 6 responses. but i went for two interviews. the first was at prinsep street (near dhoby ghaut) at 1pm (healthwise, promoting some healthcare things, the small ones are like crystal beads etc and the big ones are spa machines--somehow they don't like t tell you details over the phone, they only ask you t go for the interview before they give more information).
then, i walked t bugis. checked out the place for my next interview (i had a map. LOL) then went t bugis junction. walked around aimlessly til about 2pm, then ate a curry puff from old chang kee and a hot fudge sundae from mcdonald's. was eating my sundae and walking towards middle street (wrong direction by the way) when this hong kong lady, mandy, talked t me. anyway, t cut a long story short (so cliche), she's working for herbalife, which sells meal replacement shakes (i found out that only later. but will elaborate more in a while) and i happened t mention i was looking for a part time job and she said i could go down t see the place at 7.15pm. actually just now i typed out our conversation (roughly) but now i have no time t do that.
so, anyway. i went for the interview on middle street. was supposed t be there at 3.20pm. but i was early. waited a while. then at 3.10pm i filled in the application form. waited. read a book. waited. and waited. then at 4pm+ it was my turn t be interviewed. basically. i have t be back there at 9.30am tomorrow ( i think). or is it 9.15am? but since i'm not sure i think i'll just be there by 9am. safer. the interviewer (manager?) said they won't wait. i think it's kinda on-the-job, so tomorrow i'll just observe and see what they do in this job and maybe they'll ask me t do a bit too. then if i get selected, i'll have t go for a second interview. hope i get selected leh.... but they only need twenty people. and in the one hour or so that i was there, i think more than 10 people applied. let's say they had interviews for 8 hours. 8 hours multiplied by 10 people multiplied by 2 days (i think they still have interviews tomorrow) = 160 people!!!!! WAH!!! this job is hard t get. so elusive :/
anyway. random fact. (well not that random, because it's related t the above.) this company's (venture alliance) latest project was the singtel hot card. the prepaid card thingy. if you've seen the ad you'll know.
looked at the time. it was 4pm+ so i looked at the list i had compiled of addresses for interviews and saw there was one at north bridge centre. found it, finally (i kept getting lost tday). it was a walk-in interview but the lady there said it was some charity thing. sell $2 coupons and get commission. but, that goes against my morals. if it's for charity, shouldn't all the money earned from the sale of tickets go t the charity?? what's the point of asking people t donate t charity when a large part of it goes t you??? that's cheating the feelings of innocent philanthropists (??) who donate their hard-earned money out of the goodness of their hearts just t see them (well, some don't see) ending up in the pockets of those collecting donations, instead of the recipients of the charity (O.o long sentence. even *i'm* confused).
after that.... i went back t bugis junction t wait for 7.15pm. my legs were aching. i still have muscle cramps now. went t food junction and ordered tau suan just so i had an excuse t sit there. but the tau suan was pretty. pretty horrible, that is. then i looked at my options again. i had the promoting one and the event crew one so far. actually the promoting one i was quite sure i could get it, but i had t go for trainings from thursday t saturday if i chose that. and, i didn't really want t do that because it seems t go against my morals (as well). i don't really believe in the "healing powers" of crystals and all those thing-a-magick. so, that was sorta OUT. as for the event crew one, i had, like, 0.625% of getting it (actually, 50%. either i get it or i don't. LOL).
after my pretty (horrible) tau suan, i waited a while before i finally dragged myself out of food junction and shuffled aimlessly around bugis junction again. was SOOOOOOOOO tired. sat down somewhere outside then my mom called and said she'd come and meet me. 25 minutes later, i met her at food junction (there again!) and ate noodles and i closed my eyes for a while. i was really exhausted (in fact i still am). at 6.50pm, we went t icon, opposite bugis junction, then looked for heritage place/tan quee lan(?) street where herbalife was located. good thing my mom was there because it was dark and we had t walk through some alleys. basically. the "meeting" (?) showcased the products by herbalife and testimonies of those who use them (weight loss, nutrition, weight gain etc) and i think it was trying t convince people t sign up as part-timers/consumers. well i was pretty much convinced because since it's multi-level marketing you can do it at your own time, very flexible. aiya but see how lah. i think now i'll concentrate on the event crew one, if i get it. but if not, well i still have the waiting job (that is waiting for me, lol) on weekends. [:
hmm. after that i took the mrt home. smsed the healthwise guy that the job is "not suitable for me". and he said "No worries. All the best. C u at the top!" erm. okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
a public apology t clarissa kang (in advance), in case i can't go for the whole chalet stay. SORRY! but i'll try t come at least for one day.... [:
OH MY OH MY look at the time! i need my sleep. hope i don't wake up late. and i need t replenish my energy! event crew job is tiring, i think. well, most jobs are anyway.
